Re'Presenting' Christ
Matthew 4:23-25...'And Jesus was going about Galilee, teaching in the
synogogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing
every kind of disease, and every kind of sickness among the people.
And, the news about him went out to all Syria; and they brought to him
all that were ill, taken with various diseases and pains, demonics,
epileptics, paralytics, and He healed them.'
When Jesus is lifted up, multitudes follow. By the thousands, people
left their cities, their marketplaces, and their businesses. Great throngs
of men, women, and children eagerly left their homes and communities
to be with Jesus in the wilderness. Such is the 'power' of the Master.
Yet, seeing these multitudes, He departed and went up on the
mountain; and, after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. Keep this
in mind, 'not all the multiitudes were disciples.' It was only the disciples
came to be trained by Him. The multitudes came to be healed and
blessed. His disciples came to not only be touched but transformed.
Dear Friends...Not everyone who finds Jesus desires to be like Him.
Multitudes come to receive from Him, but only 'true disciples' come to
give Him their lives so He can reduplicate His life through them.
To re'present' Him is His goal with His disiples. We do not merely
represent Him , we re'present' Him. His living presence must be
presented through us. He is ever calling us to climb higher and go
deeper. His living presence must be seen in us and through us. We do
more than teach 'about' Him. He teaches through us. He calls us to
that 'higher life', than just knowing what He did. Our call is to reveal
'who He is'. That's why He calls us "His Body'.
The goal of the Body is not just to remember what He once did., but to
manifest perfectly the intentions, thoughts, and virtues of our Head. The
actions of the Body ought ultimately to be living expressions of the God
who know has come to dwell and live in and through
us. Amen.
