A Deeper Yearning For God

Scripture: Psalm 63:l...'O'God, you are my God, earnestly, I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary
land where there is no water.

The world today is so full of helter skelter. Each day always has its
ups and downs, joys and sorrows, happiness and pain. It is no wonder
that we yearn for someone to share with, where we feel safe, and have
moments of complete connection where you can fully be yourself,
sharing laughter, have deep conversations, and have a sense of
complete intimacy all while feeling completely understood and cherished
by the other person. It is a space where you can simply exist together,
free from outside distractions, and completely present in the moment
with one another.

Having a close, intimate relationship with God is similar to the deep
connection between two people, experiencing that same type of
closeness, love, trust, and open communication, and a constant desire
to know and be known by Him, where you actively seek His Presence
either through prayer, talking to Him, or through Bible study, or just
aligning yourself with His will, feelings, and through the deep love and
devotion that permeates in every aspect of your being for Him.

Here are some key aspects of taking time to just come together and
talk to the one who our soul loves:

l. You share your joy and laughter - You enjoy even silly moments
together, share genuine laughter with your Risen Saviour. We
sometimes forget that Jesus does have a sense of humor and just loves
to share happy times together.

2. Being with Him offers us a sense of deep closeness and the
comfort of His Presence, of simply being near one another.

3. The Lord gives us time to talk about everything, from everyday life
to deeper truths with a sense of curiosity and genuine interest in the
other person's perspective. But, always remember, the Lord, during this
time, can also reveal His innermost nature and thoughts back to you .
We tend to talk much and listen little. Always set time just to open your
heart and listen.

4. With the Lord, there is a feeling that you can rely on Him to listen,
that He believes in you and your wanting to draw near to Him, providing
you a sense of love, security, and confidence.

5. This is a time of being fully focused on Him, putting away
distractions, like cell phones and so actively engaging in this time

together. These times can, however, include a long leisurely walk just
enjoying the time together. Have a job to do? It can be a perfect time to
have Him share in the work together, sharing every part of the job
together. Going on a weekend holiday? That would be the perfect time
to reminisce of past special times together. Isaiah 43:26. Or, just
simply sitting and talking with full attention on one another; just like
talking openly which involves talking with God, sharing your thoughts,
feelings, concerns and again listening for His guidance and response.
Studying the Bible becomes a way to learn more about the Lord's
character, desires, and plans for your life, deepening your
understanding of who He is and what He is like. As you are together,
you accept God's love for you regardless of your mistakes and
responding with devoted love to the Father with devoted love in return.
It is a time to fully relying on God's wisdom and direction and provisions
in all situations and feeling secure in His Presence.

In the time of seeking His Presence making time for solitude with
Him, we are intentionally setting aside moments to connect with Him on
a very personal way. We actively choose to live according to God's
ways, teachings, and principles, character, allowing Him to guide our
actions and decisions. This is also a time we can sense and wonder
recognizing God's majesty, beauty, power ever desiring to maintain a
healthy reverence while experiencing His closeness.
As we spend each precious time just off with our Lord, we will come to
realize that growing in Christ will be a 'lifelong process' of seeking more
and more of all that our Lord is in His infinite beauty. Amen?
Prayer...Thank You, Lord, for all those special times together! Fill us
even more with who You are. In Jesus' Name....Amen.
