Addicted To Jesus
Scripture: I Corinthians l6:13-19
Are you hardcore addicted to Jesus? What exactly is an addiction
anyway? It is being addicted to a particular substance, thing, person, or
activity.
As I was searching, I came across a list of questions to help determine
whether I was addicted to Jesus.
Can you hardly wait until you are alone with Jesus so you can
experience His Presence in a close and intimate way? Yes I can hardly
wait to get into His Presence. David said in Ps. l6: ll...'In thy presence is
fullness of joy...You make the path of life known to me..complete joy in
your presence. Pleasures are by your side forever.'
Psalm 84: l-2 says...'How amiable are thy tabernacles, O'Lord of
Hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord, my
heart and my flesh cries out for the living God.'
Psalm 84:l6 - 'For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had
rather be a doorkeeper in the House of My God then to dwell in the
tents of wickedness.
Psalm 84:4 -'Blessed are they that dwell in thy house; they will still be
praising thee. Selah.
Psalm 84:l-2 - 'Your dwelling place is lovely, O'Lord of armies. My
soul longs and yearns for the Lord's court yards. My whole body shouts
for joy to the Living God.'
If you talk about being addicted to Jesus, King David was hardcore.
Do you find yourself avoiding people because they interfere with
more alone time with Jesus?
Romans l2:2 - 'And be not conformed to this world but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.'
Do you find yourself dreaming about your habit?
Do you regularly turn to your habit when you are in trouble?
Do you feel better able to face life after engaging with your habit?
Do you get upset if you cannot partake of your habit for a long
period of time?
Do you prefer to be with other people who do what you do?
If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then, you are
addicted and should seek professional help. 'Come' to the Mighty
Counselor if you need help with your addition. You will leave even more
addicted than when you came.
If you are a child of God, this makes a great witnessing tool. Share
often with others that you are an addict. You are addicted to Jesus!
If you have never experienced the greatest joy of being close to
Jesus, I invite you to come running into His arms. He is waiting not to
be a temporary fix but offers you a forever, eternal transformation and
change.
Amen.
